PI/CPC Update For September

Public Information & Cooperation with the Professional Community (PI/CPC) News & Update

Next month, PI/CPC will bring A.A. informational presentations into two local high schools—Casa Grande High (Sept 23–24) and Petaluma High (Sept 30 & Oct 1)—speaking directly to freshmen and sophomores.

We need 22 speakers (men and women) to cover every class period across both campuses. You’ll attend speaker training next month, schedule to observe one class session, then in the following period share your experience, strength, and hope—in person, in the classroom—alongside an experienced presenter who will help make clear what A.A. is and isn’t as part of a two-speaker team.

We also welcomed Jessica and Brian K. as our newest PI/CPC-trained speakers at this month’s training.

Why this matters now: The A.A. 2022 Membership Survey (GSO NY; U.S./Canada; ~6,000-member randomized meeting sample; snapshot, not a census) shows the professional channel is pivotal: 53% were referred by a counselor/medical/mental-health professional; 79% say treatment helped direct them to A.A.; 86% say it aided recovery; and 77% report their doctors know they’re in A.A. PI/CPC’s outreach to schools and professionals has never been more important.

Lend a hand: We’ll train you and pair you with an experienced member—no prior school experience required. Speaker requirements: 2 years continuous sobriety and working knowledge of the Steps & Traditions (1 year for younger speakers — SOCYPAA, we’d love your help).

Our first PIZZA PARTY was a hit!
Deric will host September’s PIZZA PARTY during speaker training and the business meeting—come for the training, stay for the food.

Meetings: Speaker training begins at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the A.A. Bookstore; the business meeting follows at 7:30 p.m.
Location: A.A. Bookstore, 750 Mendocino Ave., #10, Santa Rosa. Hybrid — Zoom link available in the event listing on the SoCo AA website. (Next up: Wed, Sept 10)
