Thanksgiving Alkathon

Season’s Greetings!! 

It’s that time of year where the leaves are changing, and the holidays are fast approaching. With that comes the 2022 Alkathons, hosted by Sonoma County Intergroup Fellowship. 

What is an Alkathon, you may ask? It’s our way of expressing and showing the recovery, unity, and service that the AA way of life has taught us. It’s a showcase of Sonoma County sobriety and its members, new and old. Meetings will be held around the clock with different groups hosting every 2 hours. There will be food, fun, and fellowship. All are welcome to attend and participate. 

This is a time of year when new in sobriety, I felt alone and displaced from my family. Thanks to the Alkathons in past years, I found a new family and a new home for the holidays. I was never alone and was able to be useful, whether it be from setting up, cleaning up, serving in the kitchen, as security, secretary, speaking, or just being. Meeting other newcomers, sitting with long timers, it didn’t matter I was welcome, I was home. I would highly encourage anyone feeling out of sorts or feeling all the sorts to show up and share the love, joy, and happiness that we share.
